Haugesund International School is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the IB Organization from August 2016. We operate a six year PYP programme of study, encompassing years 1 through 5.

Students engaged in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) will develop international-mindedness through a comprehensive, inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Our programme focuses on the Learner Profile and thereby the development of the whole child by addressing their academic, social, physical, emotional and ethical needs. It reflects real-life by encouraging learning beyond traditional subjects to make the learning more meaningful. It aims to equip students with the skills to succeed in a challenging world and to develop a positive attitude to life-long learning.

The PYP is a trans-disciplinary program of international education designed to foster the development of the whole child.

It is designed for students aged 3 to 12. Haugesund International School will teach PYP for pupils age 6 to 11 years old. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.
