Our Location
Haugaland (which include Haugesund, Karmøy, Tysvær kommunes) is a region with a rich history dating back to Viking times. As with the Vikings, seafaring and trade symbolise this coastal region. The rich coastline allowed this area to develop as an important hub for fish export and, later, as Norway’s leading shipbuilding and maritime center. Today the region is the home of international companies within maritime industry and technology.
The area is surrounded by mountains in the east and the North Sea coming in from the west. There are great opportunities to enjoy the clean and fresh costal nature. The region has a wide range of cultural activities, such as theater and music festivals, and modern arenas for indoor sports. The countryside is very popular for both outdoor sports and hiking.
The school was established in 2016 and was first located in Haugesund. In 2019 we moved to the island of Karmøy—purchasing our building from the kommune in 2021 and establishing roots here on Torvastad. We remodeled the 1975 building which houses our PYP, built a playground, ballcourt and grill hut in our outdoor spaces. In 2023, we constructed a brand-new building that has classroom spaces for our MYP as well as a School Kitchen, Library, Science Lab and Art Room.
